Peace and Blessings
It is important in any and all relationships to understand your mate. We spend time understanding others communication styles, others behaviour, etc in order to communicate with them better. However, we spend so little time getting to know our mates and their likes and dislikes.
The Golden rule is "Do under to others, as you would have them to do unto you". We take this literally, but it is the principal that we show be looking at, i.e., you want people to be nice to you, listen to you, respect you, come to you with a good spirit, etc. That does not me that just because I like and want the crust cut from my bread that I should do that to my husband, because he may want the crust. I should listen to what he wants because I want him to listen to what I want.
When a person is important to you, you want them to be happy, therefore, you must listen.
